Crafted from ponderosa pine recovered after the Hermits Peak / Calf Canyon Fire in Northern New Mexico (2022), this coffee table preserves the character of a tree estimated to be approximately 180 years old.
The wood, Pinus ponderosa (ponderosa pine), retains natural fire markings and grain movement stabilized with metal flake epoxy and turquoise inlays. Measuring approximately 5 feet long, 24 inches wide, and 4 inches thick, the piece stores an estimated ~20–25 kg of carbon, equivalent to roughly ~75–90 kg of CO₂ retained within the wood.
Constructed for long-term durability and finished with a hand-rubbed lacquer system, each piece is digitally documented to preserve the history of the tree, the fire, and its transformation.
