Little Bear Fire No-10

Crafted from black walnut recovered after the Little Bear Fire in Ruidoso, New Mexico (2012), this piece preserves the character of a tree estimated to be approximately 150 years old.

The wood, Juglans nigra (black walnut), retains natural grain movement and fire character, stabilized with metal flake epoxy and turquoise inlays. The slab measures approximately 7 feet long, 21 inches wide, and 2.75 inches thick and stores an estimated ~18–22 kg of carbon, equivalent to roughly ~65–80 kg of CO₂ retained within the wood.

Constructed for long-term structural stability and finished with a hand-rubbed lacquer system, each piece is digitally documented to preserve the history of the tree, the fire, and its transformation.
